Oxford Treatment Center - Inpatient

My experience at Oxford Treatment Center in Etta, Mississippi was life changing to say the least. From the ride there with Heather, who was so warmhearted and comforting to the nurses and staff that took great care of me in detox even though I didn’t have to stay long on the porch because I detoxed 8 days before arriving at Etta OTC. I moved over to Cedar cabin where I was welcomed open armed by the girls that would become my sober sisters and the staff who genuinely took an interest in me personally and my journey to recover from alcohol & drugs. Which is not exactly a walk in the park. I have to say this program and facilities was top notch and I have been through 4 other programs. But this was exceptional from the very start. Berry would get us pumped up in the mornings and reward us at the end of the week which kept us excited about our recovery journey. He assured us that we could go and I quote “from a mess to a message!” I definitely was a mess when I showed up at OTC. The groups taught us relapse prevention, embracing change, processing feelings & emotions and so much more. Hank did an amazing job teaching the hijacked brain 4 part course. Lauren went above and beyond with popcorn & movie night, s'mores by the fire night. Matt, Lauren, & Greg made it possible for us to have volleyball & kickball games which was super fun. Marty & the cowboys taught me how to saddle and ride a horse and how horses and recovery go hand and hand. Marty even got a horse to surrender, which means lay down and then taught me how to do it and that was breath taking. I loved my therapist Sabrina. She helped me process trauma and figure out the next right steps for me and my recovery. Cassandra, Mary Beth, & Monica were all very helpful on the financial and paperwork side of the experience and help my experience to go smoothly. The medical team and nurses helped me get my mental medications regulated so my moods leveled out and I could sleep better. The TA’s Carson, John Eric, Mrs.Vicki, Precious, & Bud made everyday better with their help and encouragement. The cooks and kitchen staff fed us 3 healthy & delicious meals a day with a smile on there faces. Terrica was one of my favorite process group facilitators one of the things she said that stuck with me was “ you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” Well I been shooting and making shots left and right since I have moved on to the PHP program Resolutions in Oxford Mississippi. Hannah used her music talents and music therapy to helps us heal and karaoke to help us face our fears and use our voices to work through our trauma in such a positive way. Her groups was definitely one of my favorites. And Mrs. Clare’s art therapy was another unique and exceptional group that really helped my while I was there. Mr. Raffle touch my heart when he shared his story with us. I met so many amazing people at OTC from the patients to the staff that will forever have a place in my heart because they changed the course of my life. I healed so much mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally from my experiences at OTC in Etta Mississippi I definitely would recommend if your struggling with alcoholism or addiction, & mental health problems this place will change your life and give you the tools you need to live a long happy & healthy sober life. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for helping me heal and recover!
